Job summary

Education Authority in Lisburn is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor in meal preparation and cooking, within a school kitchen. You'll work as part of a team to provide a hygienic service, assist with menus, portion control, stock handling and basic admin duties, and help promote the service to parents and customers.

Qualifications

• Experience in school or institutional kitchens is beneficial.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to follow recipes, portion controls and kitchen routines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation and cooking across a range of meals.
• Record keeping and hygiene/food safety monitoring (temperatures, cleanliness).
• Support supervision of staff and assist with stock, stores and deliveries.
• Assist in planning meals, simple admin duties, and promoting the service to parents and customers.
• General kitchen duties including washing, setup, and cleanup.
