Job description

Job Title: Claims Handler - Casualty Fraud Team

The Claims Handler will manage a caseload of EL/PL claims within our Casualty Fraud Team. Responsibilities include handling delegated authority fixed fee cases and non-delegated cases for various insurance clients. The role involves working closely with a Technical Support Lawyer, who will assist in setting strategies, making liability decisions, and overseeing technical development.

The work will primarily involve Pre-action disclosure files, Infant Approval Hearings, and EL/PL files.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responding to Applications for Pre-action disclosure
  • Managing cases in accordance with client SLAs
  • Instructing Counsel/Advocates
  • Reviewing evidence and conducting legal research
  • Negotiating and drafting court payments
  • Handling routine correspondence
  • Initial case review and strategy setting
  • Ongoing case review and management
  • Managing disclosure and evidence, including medical and personnel records
  • Investigating claims, obtaining witness statements, and liaising with involved parties
  • Instructing Counsel and Experts
  • Attending conferences and trials, taking notes
  • Reviewing quantum and drafting Tomlin and Consent Orders
  • Handling queries, telephone chasing, and filing documents
  • Ensuring compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations
Working Hours

35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch. The primary location is Parklands, Bolton Office.
