Job summary

A local authority in the UK is seeking an individual to manage the day-to-day operations of refuse collection and street cleansing services. The successful candidate will provide leadership and ensure services are delivered on time and to high standards. Flexibility is essential, as duties may require weekend and holiday work, as well as participation in an out-of-hours standby system. Local knowledge of the East Riding area will be beneficial.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day operation of the refuse collection and street cleansing services. Their role will be to provide clear direction to the work force and to ensure that services are provided on time to the highest possible standard. This is a responsible role which requires a hard working and flexible individual. Previous experience of services provided is essential.

You will be required to work overtime or weekends to catch up the refuse / recycling service after a bank holiday, due to vehicle breakdown / inclement weather or other operational pressures. When the service dictates, you will be required to work on Saturdays, and Bank / Public Holidays for which the appropriate enhancement will be paid.

You may be required to participate in standby system covering out of hours emergencies including weekend working.

The role is based at any of the 5 Operational Depots good local knowledge of all areas within the East Riding would be useful.
