Job summary

Birmingham Community Leisure Trust is recruiting a Casual Receptionist at Northfield Leisure Centre to welcome customers, handle bookings, and support daily operations. The role is casual and requires a customer-focused approach to help communities access leisure activities.

You will be the first point of contact, handling payments, bookings, and enquiries while promoting the centre’s services and maintaining high standards of care and safety for a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer care and communication skills.
• Confident using computer systems and digital tools.
• Able to remain calm and effective in busy or challenging situations.
• Experience working in a customer-facing environment, ideally within leisure, hospitality or a similar setting.
• Comfortable engaging with a diverse range of customers, including adults and children.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide excellent service both in person and over the telephone.
• Operate the computerised front-of-house system, process payments, issue receipts and follow financial procedures.
• Balance daily income and support banking processes in line with established procedures.
• Manage facility bookings and respond to general enquiries efficiently and professionally.
• Promote and sell the products and services offered across the leisure service.
• Support marketing activities by displaying promotional materials and assisting with promotional initiatives where required.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and carry out any additional duties assigned by the Duty Manager.

Hourly Rate: £8.20 per hour (16-18 years), £10.85 per hour (18-20 years), £12.71 per hour (21+ years) plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Permanent, casual hours to cover holiday and sickness
