Job summary

Delta Hotels by Marriott York is seeking a friendly server to provide food and beverage service to guests in a busy hotel environment. You will take orders, coordinate with the kitchen, and ensure guest satisfaction throughout the meal with accurate billing and payment processing.

Role involves maintaining cleanliness, adhering to health and safety policies, and collaborating with colleagues across departments to deliver a high standard of service.

Responsibilities

• Serve food and alcoholic beverages to guests following service standards and legislation.
• Set tables according to event type and service requirements.
• Answer questions on menu choices and communicate with kitchen about queries and delays.
• Record orders accurately using the hotel POS at the time of order.
• Check with guests throughout meals to ensure satisfaction with courses and drinks.
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of work areas, crockery, glassware and equipment.
• Complete closing duties: clean and store equipment, restock supplies, switch off lights, close checklists.

Job description

Position Summary:

Serve food and alcoholic beverages to guests inaccordance with hotel service standards and applicable legislation. Set tablesaccording to the type of event and service requirements. Answer questions regarding menu selections and communicate with the kitchenregarding menu queries, waiting times, re-cooked orders and productavailability. Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs and specialrequests to the kitchen and relevant team members. Record orders accurately using the hotel's point-of-sale system at the time oforder. Check with guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction with each foodcourse and/or beverage. Maintain cleanliness and presentation of work areas, crockery, glassware andequipment throughout the day, following clean-as-you-go procedures. Complete closing duties, including cleaning and storing equipment, restockingsupplies, returning equipment to the appropriate locations, switching offlights and completing relevant cleaning and closing checklists. Present guests with an accurate bill and process payment using the hotel'sapproved electronic payment methods. Follow all hotel health, safety and security policies and procedures. Reportaccidents, injuries and unsafe working conditions to the appropriate managerand complete required safety training. Ensure uniform and personal presentation are clean, hygienic and professional. Maintain confidentiality of company and guest information and protect hotelassets. Welcome and acknowledge guests in a warm, friendly and professional manner,anticipate and respond to their service needs, provide appropriate assistanceto individuals with disabilities and thank guests for their custom. Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and associates. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and otherdepartments, support the team in achieving common goals and listen and respondappropriately to colleagues' concerns. Ensure adherence to quality, food safety and service standards.
