Job summary

Delta Hotels by Marriott York is seeking a kitchen assistant to support senior kitchen management and ensure high standards of food preparation and safety. You will help with menu planning, ordering, and training of kitchen associates while maintaining clean and safe work areas.

Responsibilities include portioning, cooking to recipes, monitoring quality, and adhering to safety protocols. The role requires the ability to stand for long periods and lift light loads, contributing to a smoothly run

Position Summary:

Prepare ingredients forcooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. Wash and peel freshfruits and vegetables. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients. Prepare and cookfood according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and foodpreparation checklist. Prepare cold foods. Operate ovens, stoves, grills,microwaves, and fryers. Test foods to determine if they have been cookedsufficiently. Monitor food quality while preparing food. Set-up and break downwork station. Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles. Wash anddisinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Check and ensurethe correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.

To support seniorkitchen management in the overall running of the department.Check all hygiene records are up todate.Be involved with menu planning,ordering and training of kitchen associates.Make sure all food leaving the kitchen to the various outlets is of thehigh standard expected from the executive chef.

Follow all company andsafety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs,accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safetytraining and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are cleanand professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protectcompany assets. Speak with others using clear and professional language.Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support teamto reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns ofother employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Stand,sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Reachoverhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, andstooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less thanor equal to 25 pounds without assistance. Perform other reasonable job dutiesas requested by Supervisors.
