Job summary

Bradford Council's Safe & Sound service seeks a Casual Control Operator for the Safe & Sound control room. You will be the first point of contact for users, coordinating responses and logging information in line with GDPR and local procedures.

You will work on a shift pattern (early, late, night) with two weeks of fully paid training and a commitment to privacy and safeguarding in a 24-hour alarm service for vulnerable residents.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience required, with telephone information/advice work.
• Ability to write concisely and clearly, including documentation.
• Background in social care is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to work under pressure and follow service level agreements.

Responsibilities

• Be the main point of contact for Safe & Sound users and coordinate responses.
• Record and communicate information in writing and verbally per GDPR.
• Work with internal/external agencies to support vulnerable people.
• Maintain logs and ensure accurate information flow.

Safe & Sound Control Room Casual Operator – Early, Late, Night shifts available

Band 4: SCP: 5 – Role to cover abstractions on shifts

Based at Safe and Sound, Elm Suite, Valley View Care Home. Scatcherd Drive, BD22 7NU

Bradford Adult Services, Adult Social Care department operate Safe & Sound, a 24-hour community alarm service that provides a monitoring provision for older and vulnerable people throughout the Bradford and Airedale district. Our aim is to provide peace of mind and emergency support to users within their own home via the use of Technology Enabled Care.

As a Casual Control Operator, you would be the main point of contact for our Safe & Sound users and will assist in coordinating responses according to individual need and departmental procedures.

You will work alongside several internal and external agencies:

• Internal agencies such as B.E.S.T, social workers and support workers
• West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue
• GPs and District Nursing Teams
• Carers Resource
• Family members

You will be required to record, maintain and communicate relevant information both in writing and verbally, in line with the Councils GDPR and data protection policies.

You will be expected to understand the needs and issues faced by vulnerable people within our communities.

You must have customer service experience including knowledge of telephone information/advice work and an ability to write concisely and legibly, together with experience of using computer systems/information technology. A background or understanding of the social care sector is desirable. We are looking for candidates who can work under pressure, making deployment decisions in line with service level agreements.

You must have at least 3 GCSE grade A-C or equivalent, to include English, or additional experience demonstrating skills and knowledge at this level. A qualification in Health and Social care is desirable but is not essential.

You will be given two week’s fully paid training if successful in applying for this role from Monday to Friday. Full support and extensive training will be given.
