Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a Head of Maintenance to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within a care home. You will lead a small team, manage day-to-day maintenance, and collaborate with contractors to keep the building and grounds in excellent condition.

You’ll oversee hands-on repairs, lead budget discussions with the General Manager, and ensure operations run smoothly to support resident wellbeing and staff efficiency. A UK driving licence and trade skills are required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on property maintenance experience.
• At least one trade skill.
• Reliable and flexible with working hours.
• Full UK driving licence, IT literacy and GCSEs in Maths and English.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and upgrade the care home buildings and gardens.
• Lead the maintenance team and coordinate with external contractors.
• Support the General Manager with annual budget planning and cost control.
• Liaise with contractors on specialised projects as needed.
