Job summary

De Montfort University on the city campus seeks a reliable Porter to join the Campus Services team. The role involves moving furniture and equipment to support university business, and ensuring spaces are prepared for events, teaching and exams.

The position is part of a small team, 20 hours per week, with shifts 6:00am–8:00pm, Monday to Sunday. An unsociable hours payment is paid on top of hourly rate for hours before 8:00am, after 8:00pm and at weekends.

Qualifications

• Has a full UK driving licence.
• Demonstrates experience of manual handling operations and use of equipment.
• Takes pride in delivering high standards of workmanship.
• Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
• Demonstrates commitment to excellent customer service.
• Willing to undertake training and development as required.

Responsibilities

• Move furniture, equipment and materials to support university operations.
• Assist with ceremonies and corporate events and ensure buildings are prepared to the highest standard.
• Work as part of a small campus team and ensure spaces are welcoming for students, staff and visitors.
