Job summary

Thomas Franks Ltd in Cambridge is seeking a creative and capable Sous Chef to join our contract catering team. We cater for about 100 people daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, operating Monday to Friday in a busy, high‑standard setting.

You will lead kitchen service, ensure food safety and presentation, manage stock movements, assist with order placing, and train junior staff. The role offers 40 hours per week and a salary of £36,000 per annum, with opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Experience as sous chef or chef de partie preferred.
• Ability to work Monday to Friday.
• High standards of hygiene and safety.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all food service areas for the day’s business.
• Ensure prompt service of meals to company/client standards.
• Ensure methods of preparation/presentation meet company expectations.
• Prepare, set-up, serve, clear and store away food, beverages or equipment.
• Follow hygiene practices and safety standards in daily service.
• Restock and replenishment of stock during service periods.
• Keep Front of House informed of stock levels and delays.
• Attend meetings and training courses as required.
