Job summary

Government of the United Kingdom is seeking an organised Business Support Assistant to join our School Admissions team. You will handle applications, enter data into our database, prepare standard letters, and support families, schools and colleagues through the admissions process.

You will work as part of a busy team, manage enquiries, emails and post, maintain confidential records, and help with main admissions rounds and appeal paperwork.

Qualifications

  • A well-organised person who can manage routine tasks, keep accurate records and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence using computerised systems, databases, shared folders, spreadsheets and email.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to deal professionally and sensitively with parents, schools and colleagues.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail when entering information, checking data, preparing letters and handling paperwork.
  • A calm, helpful and positive approach, with the ability to follow procedures, maintain confidentiality and work well as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to support the admissions officers with other tasks during busy periods, including main admissions rounds and National Offer Day preparations.

Job description

We are looking for an organised, reliable and customer-focused Business Support Assistant to join our busy School Admissions team. This role would suit someone who enjoys working as part of a team, handling data and information, using computerised systems and supporting families, schools and colleagues through the admissions process.

About the role As a key member of the School Admissions Section, you will provide practical administrative support to families and schools, handling applications and related information efficiently, accurately and confidentially. Duties will include managing incoming phone enquiries, emails and post, entering information onto our database, preparing standard letters and emails, liaising with schools and parents, supporting our admissions officers with main admissions rounds and helping with appeal-related paperwork.
