Job summary

Wigan Council is seeking to appoint a School Organisation and Admissions Assistant to support school admissions and asset management across the borough. The role involves processing application forms under the Fair Access Protocol and assisting with in-year applications and school appeals.

You will work with the School Organisation Officers to deliver statutory duties, using databases and spreadsheets, and maintain high standards of organisation and communication in a busy environment.

Qualifications

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in administrative roles or school admissions is beneficial.
  • Good knowledge and experience of using computer systems such as databases, spreadsheets, word-processing packages and emails.

Your role:
  • We are seeking to appoint to a vacant post within the exciting and challenging role of School Organisation and Admissions Assistant.
  • This is a varied post and requires the candidate to work across a broad area of work related to school admissions and school organisation.
  • Your role involves supporting the delivery of service objectives for school organisation, admissions and asset management.
  • You will mainly be responsible for processing school application forms which are being considered under the Fair Access Protocol and supporting with the processing of in-year application forms and school appeals.
  • You will support the School Organisation Officers to enable delivery of our statutory duties.
About you:
  • The ideal person for this role needs to be able to undertake a range of administrative task. You must have excellent organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to manage your own workload while using your own initiative. A good knowledge and experience of using computer systems such as databases, spreadsheets, word-processing packages and emails is key to this role. The role at times is demanding so experience in working in an administrative role or school admissions is beneficial.
