Business Development Manager (Geotechnical)

UK – Hybrid

Certain Advantage is hiring for a Geotechnical Business Development Manager based in the UK.

This role is on a permanent basis and offers hybrid working, with regular travel to client sites across the country, and visits to the head office near Sheffield.

Are you from a geotechnical, ground engineering or civils background and ready to step into a client-facing, commercially focused role, with ongoing opportunities for growth and development?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and growing market leader in geotechnical and structural engineering solutions, known for delivering complex, technically challenging projects across the UK, where you will lead business development for the geotechnical function.

You will be in a versatile role which you can make your own, where you will build relationships, attend events, deliver CPDs, and help shape future business growth, all while working within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

We’re working with an award-winning contractor, which operates across Geotechnical, Structural and Renewables, and forms part of a wider UK group, recognised for innovation, quality, and technical excellence.

They’re trusted by major clients, providing expert solutions for complex ground and structural challenges.

The Role

This role would suit someone with experience in geotechnical or civil engineering, whether you’re already in business development or looking to make that transition from site, project management or estimating into a fully commercial role.

  • Day to day you will :
  • Build and strengthen relationships with new and existing clients
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and frameworks
  • Represent the business at industry events, exhibitions, and meetings
  • Deliver technical presentations and CPDs sessions to consultants and engineers
  • Support bid activity and estimating, following up on enquiries and submitted tenders
  • Work closely with marketing on campaigns and client engagement activity
  • Contribute to wider business growth strategy and market development
The Individual

We’re looking for people who can show :

  • A background in geotechnical, ground engineering or civils, either in a similar sales-orientated role, or from a site, PM or estimating role
  • Strong communication skills and confidence building relationships with consultants and clients
  • An interest in business development, networking, and helping drive growth
  • The ability to work flexibly between home, office and client sites
