Overview

Business Development Manager – Bioenergy/Renewable Energy

Location: Scotland (Highland, Moray and Aberdeenshire)

Salary: £50-60k (Negotiable DOE)

Start Date: ASAP

Our client is a small but rapidly growing developer of renewable energy facilities in the UK. Their anaerobic digestion plants produce carbon-negative biomethane to decarbonise the UK’s gas and transport networks and strengthen energy resilience. This is a key role at the heart of the team with a focus on Scottish projects, working closely with colleagues across the business and with a range of external stakeholders.

You will join at a moment of significant development, with an ambitious strategy, a strong core team, and substantial funding to roll out £450m of new facilities across the UK over the next two years. The role requires an energetic, analytical, and personable character with passion for energy and sustainability, the ability to learn quickly, and the confidence to initiate and independently pursue new lines of enquiry.

Responsibilities
  • Identify feedstock supplies from the whisky industry and agricultural sources including pot ale and pot ale syrup.
  • Negotiate feedstock contracts and prepare contracts to secure supply in accordance with project timelines.
  • Negotiate contracts with prospective clients for the supply of biomethane.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders involved in projects (distilleries, farmers, contractors, lawyers, consultants, planning agents, etc.).
Qualifications and Experience
  • Technical/engineering qualification.
  • Knowledge of whisky/distillery industry.
  • Business development expertise with commercial contract negotiation experience.
  • Technical understanding of whisky production processes, including evaluation of evaporators.
  • Full driving license and access to your own car; willingness to travel within Scotland and to the London office/English sites on occasion.
  • Ideally educated to Degree level with commercial and technical knowledge in the whisky industry; knowledge in agriculture is a plus. A passion for energy and sustainability, quick learning ability, and the confidence to pursue new lines of enquiry are essential.
