Anderson Knight are delighted to be Partnering with one of the largest IDNO Business in the Uk who are looking to appoint a Business Development Manager.

As a Senior Business Development Manager – you’ll lead a team of Multi-Utility Business Development Managers, manage major project accounts, and drive new business opportunities through strong client relationships and innovative solutions. Success in this role will require excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, along with commercial acumen and a deep understanding of the utilities sector. You’ll play a key part in identifying growth opportunities, removing barriers to progress, and delivering results in a complex, regulated environment.

Your responsibilities as a Senior Business Development Manager (Utilities)
  • Strategic Growth & Market Development – Develop and deliver a sector-focused business development strategy, identifying emerging trends and high-value opportunities across utilities.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement – Build strong relationships with clients, regulators, and industry partners, acting as a trusted advisor and representing the business at key events.
  • Commercial Leadership – Lead pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and ensure commercially sound deal structures in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Major Projects & Partnerships – Oversee major project accounts and support Business Development Managers in securing and managing strategic partnerships and bids.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration – Manage and mentor direct reports, working cross-functionally with design, engineering, estimating, and delivery teams to shape compelling propositions.
  • Performance & Process Improvement – Monitor pipeline performance, drive continuous improvement, and champion innovation across business development practices.
Experience / Knowledge
  • Proven experience in business development or commercial leadership within the utilities sector.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure delivery models, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability drivers across Multi-utilities (gas, electricity, heat, fibre, clean water, and/or wastewater).
  • Demonstrated success in securing and delivering complex contracts or partnerships.
