Building Services Engineer
Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 DOE
Location: Luton
Working hours: 40 hours – two shift patterns; 7am - 4pm and 9am - 6pm
Call out rota: Additional payment on top of salary, currently 1 in every 4 weeks, Monday – Sunday (to be discussed further at interview)
5 years of verifiable work history with no gaps is required
Complete a basic DBS check
Additional security background checks, to be discussed at interview
Company car provided (driving license required due to location of client site)

As the Building Services Engineer Supervisor, you will lead maintenance operations for one of our prestigious clients based in Luton. As a key on site point of contact for the client, this hands‑on role involves managing PPM and reactive works, supervising a small team and ensuring full compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to step into a leadership position within facilities management.
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to ensure the site, hangar and associated buildings remain safe, compliant and fully operational
Diagnose, fault find and resolve technical issues, escalating where specialist support is required
Liaise professionally with the client, on‑site supervisor, subcontractors and other stakeholders to keep them informed of progress and works outstanding
This is a single‑site role supporting a unique and varied environment across:
Hangar 61
Buildings 99, 100, 100A
FTC Facility
This contract offers exposure across office space, warehouse facilities and a working airport hangar, making day‑to‑day activity far more engaging than a typical commercial building.
You will be onsite five days per week, becoming a trusted presence for the client.
You will work closely with another experienced engineer already based on site
This engineer will act as a day‑to‑day support and knowledge resource, helping you quickly build familiarity with assets and systems
You will report into the Team Supervisor and the client on‑site
You will lead by example and may be expected to coordinate tasks with others where required
This role will particularly suit an engineer who is:

✔ Comfortable dealing with contractors, colleagues and clients
✔ Confident taking ownership of outcomes
Basic IT ability is required to upload service sheets and update maintenance records — only basic inputting, no advanced systems knowledge needed.

Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance activities on‑site
Manage and lead a small team, ensuring effective performance and shift cover for the operation
Act as the main on‑site contact for the client, building strong working relationships
Coordinate and supervise external contractors and compliance tasks
Ensure statutory maintenance and documentation are fully up to date
Order materials, quote for minor works, and manage permits to work
Provide regular updates and reports to the Account Manager
Participate in the out‑of‑hours callout rota (currently one in four) to provide emergency response support

Previous experience in building or facilities maintenance
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Strong understanding of Health & Safety and compliance requirements
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Basic IT skills required to upload service sheets and reports
PASMA/IPAF training desirable
