This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to step into a leadership position within facilities management.

Day-to-day responsibilities also include:
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to ensure the site, hangar and associated buildings remain safe, compliant and fully operational

  • Diagnose, fault find and resolve technical issues, escalating where specialist support is required

  • Liaise professionally with the client, on‑site supervisor, subcontractors and other stakeholders to keep them informed of progress and works outstanding

Where you’ll work

This is a single‑site role supporting a unique and varied environment across:

  • Hangar 61

  • Buildings 99, 100, 100A

  • FTC Facility

This contract offers exposure across office space, warehouse facilities and a working airport hangar, making day‑to‑day activity far more engaging than a typical commercial building.
You will be onsite five days per week, becoming a trusted presence for the client.

Team, structure & support
  • You will work closely with another experienced engineer already based on site

  • This engineer will act as a day‑to‑day support and knowledge resource, helping you quickly build familiarity with assets and systems

  • You will report into the Team Supervisor and the client on‑site

  • You will lead by example and may be expected to coordinate tasks with others where required

This role will particularly suit an engineer who is:
✔ A natural leader in their work approach
✔ Comfortable dealing with contractors, colleagues and clients
✔ Confident taking ownership of outcomes

Basic IT ability is required to upload service sheets and update maintenance records — only basic inputting, no advanced systems knowledge needed.

Key Responsibilities

(Original list retained)

  • Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance activities on‑site

  • Manage and lead a small team, ensuring effective performance and shift cover for the operation

  • Act as the main on‑site contact for the client, building strong working relationships

  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors and compliance tasks

  • Ensure statutory maintenance and documentation are fully up to date

  • Order materials, quote for minor works, and manage permits to work

  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Account Manager

  • Participate in the out‑of‑hours callout rota (currently one in four) to provide emergency response support

  • Previous experience in building or facilities maintenance

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and compliance requirements

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
