Premier League Studios are looking for two Broadcast Engineering Supervisors to lead a high performing first line broadcast engineering team at their new production facility in West London.

  • Contract type:Permanent, full time
  • Reports to:Head of Systems & Engineering, PremierLeague Studios
  • Location:Premier League Studios (currently StockleyPark) future base (from 26/27 Season) Kensington Olympia.
Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals whoare passionate about delivering critical broadcast and content services in ahigh value, fast-paced and automation led environment.

The Broadcast engineering supervisors will manage ateam of people and be responsible for the real time management, support andadministration of complex data led and automation driven video and audioinfrastructure including studios, live galleries, operations centre,post-production and MAM facilities.

Reporting to the Head of Systems & Engineering,they will be responsible for ensuring the continuous uptime of critical highvalue content services, servicing and maintaining infrastructure in line withmanufacturers guidelines and good practice as wel planning and deliveringtechnology projects and upgrades.

Calm under pressure and with excellentcommunication skills they will manage priorities and incidents, keystakeholders, third party vendors and their teams.

The Broadcast Engineering Supervisors will workclosely with wider Premier League Studios technology colleagues and whennecessary, engage with colleagues across the wider PL business ecosystem.

The role
Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Manage, lead, develop andinspire the first line Broadcast Engineering Team
  • Be the lead technicalauthority and escalation / incident manager on Premier League match days
  • Work with IT colleagues tomonitor and optimize live and file media networks, addressing issues related tomulticast, Quality of Service (QoS), and redundancy protocols
  • Work closely withoperations colleagues and third-party suppliers to manage and maintain serviceand respond to incidents
  • Responsible for on-premiseand SAAS Broadcast infrastructure, systems, and services
  • Have excellent ST-2110 andNMOS knowledge and experience
  • Deep understanding of liveand post-production broadcast workflows
  • Developing complex UItra-HDand HDR workflows
  • Ensure business andindustry best practices are followed
  • Maintain and developdisaster recovery plans
  • Ensure all planned andremedial works are managed in the ITSM ticket system
  • Plan and implement upgradesand patches
  • Lead projects includingdesign, document, implementation and test
  • Support productioncolleagues working onsite and remotely
  • Provide technicalleadership in response to service impacting issues
  • Stay abreast of emergingtechnologies, industry standards and practices to recommend and implementimprovements to existing system
  • Technical authority forchange management
  • Maintain comprehensivedocumentation of system configurations, network diagrams, and standard operatingprocedures
  • Collaborate withcross-functional teams to integrate broadcast equipment into IP-based workflows
  • Manage suppliers againstSLAs and contracts
  • Monitor and report serviceavailability.
Requirements for the role
  • Proven experience working ina similar broadcast or production management role
  • Team management,development and coaching experience
  • Experience with Ultra HD& HDR standards and working practices
  • Familiarity withcloud-based broadcast solutions and virtualisation technologies
  • Ability to manage, lead,and prioritise tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Project management andstakeholder management experience
  • Experience managingbudgets, hardware lifecycles and maintenance schedules
  • Strong verbal and writtencommunication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to translatetechnical language to non-technical people
  • Experience implementingBroadcast infrastructure upgrades and refreshes
  • Experience using an ITSM orticketing system to track and resolve issues
  • Hands on and remotetechnical troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to demonstrateexperience and skills in the following core technologies:
  • ST-2110 & NMOS networksdeployed on Arista fabric & EVS endpoints
  • Ross Ultrix Platform &Carbonite switchers
  • EVS Cerebrum
  • TAG Multiviewers
  • EVS XT Servers
  • Would be useful todemonstrate experience and skills in some of the following technologies:
  • Qvest Quib
  • Riedel Artist Communicationsystems
