Job summary

AECOM is seeking enthusiastic Civil & Structural Engineering Apprentices to join our Bridges team in Leeds. As an apprentice you’ll gain hands-on experience from concept through to implementation on projects serving local, national and international clients.

You’ll produce CAD drawings, support structural design and project administration, and work toward EngTech and later IEng status with ICE or IStructE while benefiting from hybrid working options and Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Mathematics and English.
• Three A-Levels (or equivalent such as BTEC Level 3 in Civil Engineering), including Maths and a physical science – required for Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship.
• Some experience or shadowing in an engineering environment (preferred).
• Interest in software-based engineering and design (e.g., CAD, 3D modelling).
• Passion for bridge structures and a desire to build a career in this field.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
• Creative, practical, adaptable, and enthusiastic mindset.
• Strong attention to detail and methodical thinking.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Produce CAD drawings.
• Support structural design and desktop publishing tasks.
• Assist with project administration and record-keeping.
• Review and analyse data.
• Contribute to problem-solving and design solutions.
• Participate in site visits to gather information or observe conditions.
• Work toward achieving EngTech status, and later IEng status with the ICE or IStructE.
