Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Civil & Structural Engineering Apprentice to join the Bridges team in Cardiff. You will gain hands-on experience from concept design to implementation, supporting projects that operate locally, nationally and internationally.

This hybrid role suits school leavers with Maths/English GCSEs and A-Levels, offering CAD exposure and site visits, with a pathway to EngTech and IEng status through ICE/IStructE. Training and onboarding start on Day 1.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Mathematics and English
• Three A-Levels (or equivalent such as BTEC Level 3 in Civil Engineering) including Maths and a physical science
• Some experience or shadowing in an engineering environment (preferred)
• Interest in software-based engineering and design (e.g., CAD, 3D modelling)
• Passion for bridge structures and a career in this field
• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

Responsibilities

• Produce CAD drawings and associated deliverables
• Support structural design and desktop publishing tasks
• Assist with project administration and record-keeping
• Review and analyse data to contribute to design solutions
• Participate in site visits to gather information
• Work toward EngTech status and later IEng status with ICE/IStructE
