Job summary

Milk Education in Salford is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support pupils with behavioural and emotional needs within a school setting. You will provide targeted one-to-one and small-group mentoring, build trusting relationships, and work with teachers and SENCOs to implement effective strategies.

The role is full-time, term-time only, with a September start and potential for permanency for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in schools or related settings.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach when supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Experience supporting SEMH/ASC/ADHD is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS (Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring to students needing behavioural or emotional support.
• Build positive, trusting relationships to improve engagement, attendance and confidence.
• Support pupils with SEMH needs and those displaying challenging behaviour.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams and SENCOs to implement behaviour strategies.
• Promote positive behaviour and help develop emotional regulation and resilience.
• Monitor progress, record interventions and feed back to staff.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include:

• Providing one-to-one and small group mentoring to students who require additional behavioural or emotional support.

• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to improve engagement, attendance and confidence.

• Supporting students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and those displaying challenging behaviour.

• Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and SENCOs to implement behaviour support strategies.

• Promoting positive behaviour and helping students develop emotional regulation and resilience.

• Monitoring student progress, recording interventions and providing regular feedback to school staff.

Requirements or Skills:

• Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, coaching, mentoring or support setting.

• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.

• A calm, patient and resilient approach when supporting pupils with additional needs.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Experience supporting students with SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD or challenging behaviour is desirable.

• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
