Milk Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support students in a North Manchester secondary school. You will work closely with teaching staff to implement behaviour strategies and provide pastoral guidance, helping students build confidence and resilience.

The role offers ongoing CPD through Milk Academy, supportive consultant backing, and a warm school environment committed to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or similar pastoral role in secondary education.
• Experience with students with behavioural, emotional or social needs.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour using positive techniques.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child protection; training available.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with behavioural needs.
• Build positive relationships to improve engagement and confidence.
• Support students to understand and manage behaviour per school policies.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to implement behaviour strategies.
• Monitor incidents and communicate updates to staff.

Behaviour Mentor – Secondary School in North Manchester

Milk Education is currently recruiting a dedicated, resilient and caring Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in North Manchester. This position is available from September and would suit someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers, develop their confidence and reach their full potential.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide support to students who may require additional behavioural, emotional or pastoral guidance, helping to create a safe, positive and supportive environment where all students are encouraged to succeed.

Your Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with behavioural, social and emotional needs
• Developing positive and trusting relationships with students to improve engagement, confidence and personal development
• Helping students understand and manage their behaviour in accordance with the school’s behaviour policies
• Working closely with teaching staff to put appropriate behaviour strategies and interventions in place
• Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and resilience both within and outside of the classroom
• Supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and improve their attendance, engagement and participation
• Monitoring student development, recording behavioural incidents and sharing relevant updates with members of staff
• Working with parents, carers and external professionals when required to support positive outcomes for students
• Providing support across the wider school throughout the day, including during breaktimes and transition periods
• Maintaining a strong focus on safeguarding, wellbeing and positive relationships at all times

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

• Has previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker or within a similar pastoral support role in a secondary school or educational setting
• Has experience working with young people who may present with behavioural, emotional or social needs
• Is confident in dealing with challenging behaviour and using positive behaviour management techniques
• Has the ability to establish strong and positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider school community
• Demonstrates excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
• Is patient, resilient and proactive, with the ability to stay calm and consistent in challenging situations
• Has a genuine commitment to supporting young people and helping them achieve their goals
• Understands the importance of safeguarding and child protection, or is willing to undertake the relevant training
• Holds a degree or relevant qualification (desirable but not essential)

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
