Job summary

Aspire People in Greater Manchester is seeking Behaviour Mentors to support children and young people with SEMH and behavioural needs across education settings.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring, build positive relationships and help pupils re-engage with learning. A transferable background in youth work or mentoring is valued, with a calm, resilient approach and strong safeguarding awareness.

Qualifications

• Professional experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting behavioural, emotional or social needs.
• Strong relationship-building skills and ability to engage pupils.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach when dealing with challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring to pupils.

Behaviour Mentor - Youth Work & SEMH

Aspire People are looking for Behaviour Mentors to support children and young people with SEMH, behavioural and emotional needs across a range of education settings.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have transferable professional experience from youth work, mentoring, alternative provision, residential support, community projects or similar roles.

You don't necessarily need to have previously worked as a Teaching Assistant. What matters is your experience working with young people and your ability to build relationships, manage difficult situations and encourage positive behaviour.

The Role:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring
• Supporting young people with SEMH and behavioural needs
• Building positive and consistent relationships
• Helping pupils re-engage with education
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Providing pastoral and mentoring support
• Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence
• Supporting pupils through challenging situations
• Working alongside teaching and pastoral teams
• Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning and school
