Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting for Behaviour Mentors and SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in Primary and SEND settings across Wigan. You’ll work 1:1 or with small groups, building positive relationships and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

Ideal candidates will be calm, patient and resilient, with strong communication and behaviour management skills and a passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
• Build positive relationships and promote emotional regulation to help pupils access learning.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement individual plans and behaviour strategies.

Are you a Sports Coach, Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker or Behaviour Mentor looking to take your skills into education?

Aspire People is working in partnership with a number of Primary and Specialist SEND schools across Wigan who are looking to appoint confident, resilient and enthusiastic Behaviour Mentors and SEMH Teaching Assistants to start with them this term.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children who require additional emotional and behavioural support to succeed in school.

The Role

You'll work closely with pupils who may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism or behavioural challenges, supporting them on a 1:1 basis or within small groups. Your role will be to build positive relationships, promote emotional regulation and help pupils overcome barriers to learning so they can thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

This role would suit candidates with experience as a:

• Sports Coach
• Youth Worker
• Residential Support Worker
• Behaviour Mentor
• Children's Support Worker
• Psychology Graduate
• Teaching Assistant with behaviour experience
