Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting for a caring and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming primary school in Nottingham on a long-term basis, starting in September 2026. The role suits candidates with Teaching Assistant or Learning Support backgrounds who are passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

You will provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support, working with pupils facing behavioural, emotional, and social needs, while collaborating

Qualifications

  • Recent and relevant experience supporting children or young people.
  • Experience working with behavioural, emotional, or social needs.
  • Experience in a primary school setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
  • Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, or social needs.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Help pupils develop emotional regulation and coping strategies.
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Work with class teachers and the school team to support progress.
  • Support safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

Behaviour Mentor - Primary School - Nottingham

Milk Education are recruiting for a caring, resilient, and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Nottingham on a long-term basis, starting in September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, or Learning Support professional who is passionate about supporting children to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will provide targeted support to pupils who may experience behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to develop positive relationships, encourage emotional regulation, and promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning.

What You'll Be Doing in the Role:
  • Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils
  • Supporting children with behavioural, emotional, and social needs
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Helping pupils develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
  • Supporting pupils to manage challenging situations positivelyPromoting positive behaviour and encouraging engagement in learning
  • Working alongside class teachers and the wider school team
  • Supporting pupils with their social and emotional development
  • Helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Implementing individual behaviour support strategies where appropriate
  • Supporting children with SEND and additional needs
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to staff
  • Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
  • Supporting safeguarding and child protection procedures
Essential Requirements:
  • Recent and relevant experience supporting children or young people
  • Experience working with behavioural, emotional, or social needs
  • Experience working within a primary school setting is highly desirable
  • Strong behaviour management skills
