Job summary

Craven Pupil Referral Service in Skipton is seeking an innovative and compassionate practitioner to work with pupils who need extra support to overcome barriers to learning. You will help create a calm, trauma-informed environment and build trusting relationships that enable students to regulate their emotions and behaviour.

You will collaborate with staff, families and external agencies to ensure pupils receive tailored support, monitor progress, and contribute to review meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children or young people, especially SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Calm, patient and able to build positive relationships based on trust and respect.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to inclusion and ensuring every child can succeed.
• Team player with a proactive approach to promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

• Provide focused support for individual pupils to help them overcome barriers to learning.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, helping them develop strategies to regulate their emotions and behaviour.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external agencies to ensure pupils receive the support they need.
• Monitor pupils' progress and contribute to support plans and reviews.
• Support and coordinate transition processes for pupils

• Has experience of working with children or young people, particularly those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs or challenging behaviour.
• Is calm, patient, and able to build positive relationships based on trust and respect.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is committed to inclusion and believes every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.
• Can work effectively as part of a supportive and dedicated team.
• Has a proactive approach to promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
