Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated Behaviour Mentors to support mainstream secondary schools across Central and South Bristol. The role involves mentoring students with challenging behaviours, SEMH needs and supporting attendance and engagement.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, build positive relationships, follow safeguarding guidelines, and collaborate with pastoral teams. Enhanced DBS is desirable. Permanent opportunities available.

I am recruiting on behalf of a number of mainstream secondary schools across Central and South Bristol for dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentors to support students who may be struggling to engage with education.

These schools are looking for individuals who can work confidently with a wide range of behaviours, emotions and needs. The young people you support may become easily frustrated, disengage from learning, or require additional support to regulate their emotions and make positive choices.

This role is ideal for someone with a calm presence, strong people skills and a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to success.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

• Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group mentoring
• Support students who are disengaged from learning or at risk of exclusion
• Help students develop positive coping strategies and emotional regulation skills
• Build strong, professional relationships based on trust and consistency
• Support behaviour, attendance and classroom engagement
• Deliver interventions focused on personal development and wellbeing
• Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and SENCOs
• Act as a positive role model throughout the school day

You may work with students who:

• Display challenging or unpredictable behaviour
• Experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Have additional learning needs such as ADHD or Autism
• Struggle with confidence, self-esteem or emotional regulation
• Are at risk of suspension, exclusion or disengagement
• Need consistent adult support and positive relationships

Applicants should have:

• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• A commitment to safeguarding and inclusion

An Enhanced DBS is desirable, although support can be provided to obtain one.
