Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Battery Controls Engineer to join our ERS team in Concord, NC. You will develop and optimize embedded software for the HV battery management system, implementing state-of-charge and state-of-health algorithms, with real-time control and diagnostics.

You will collaborate across controls and electrical hardware, perform model-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and maintain documentation while adhering to safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Masters/PhD in EE/CS/Embedded Systems or related field, or a 5+ year bach+experience in embedded software.
• Experience with battery management systems and battery control algorithms (protection/derating, SOC, SOH).
• Strong embedded C programming and RTOS experience; trackside testing; MiL/SiL/HiL familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software for HV battery management in C/C++ and RT languages.
• Implement sensor data acquisition, HALs, real-time comms, and diagnostics.
• Collaborate with controls and electrical hardware teams for cohesive system operation.
• Perform software verification/validation (MiL/SiL/HiL) and trackside testing.
• Produce requirements and unit tests; ensure code quality and regulatory standards.
