Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen, for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian, to join the well-established Leicestershire Home Enteral Nutrition Service (HENS) on a Bank contract.

The post holder will manage a caseload of patients receiving enteral nutrition in the community, including at home, school, day care and care homes.

We have both adult and paediatric HENS dietitians in our team and are there for looking for dietitians with either experience in one of these areas or both.

This friendly, forward thinking and supportive team consists of Dietitians, Dietetic Assistant Practitioners, Dietetic Support Workers and administrative staff.

The HENS team is involved in pre-discharge training and preparation, post-discharge monitoring, coordination of supplies of feed and equipment, maintenance of enteral feeding tubes, and provision of a trouble-shooting service for families and professionals.

We have close working relationships with the wide network of healthcare, social care and education professionals involved with our patients, such as Leicestershire's community nurses and acute trust services.

Due to the nature of the role, you must be a car driver and have access to a vehicle during working hours.

Main duties of the job

The HENS team is part of the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) Nutrition and Dietetic Service, and provides services to adult and paediatric patients resident in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland who require Enteral Nutrition at home.

The LPT Nutrition and Dietetic service as a whole covers a broad scope of dietetic work in addition to Home Enteral Nutrition, including adult and paediatric outpatient clinics, domiciliary visits, inpatients, mental health and learning disabilities, specialist weight management services, and work with nurseries and schools.

Previous experience in clinical home enteral nutrition is desired, however, if you can demonstrate an interest in home enteral nutrition but do not yet have the required experience, training and development opportunities or a development position can be agreed. You will also need excellent communication skills.

We operate a proactive hands on working style with enteral feeding tubes, equipping you to work collaboratively with patients, carers, and professionals.

There may be the opportunity in the future to support the adult team with community balloon tube and/of Nasogastric tube changes if desired, after suitable training has been provided, but this is not an expectation of this role.
