Overview

Join Our Outstanding Team at Caterham Minor Injuries Unit!

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Emergency Practitioner to become part of our dedicated team at the Caterham Minor Injuries Unit, located within Caterham Dene Community Hospital. Our practitioner-led Unit operates from 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, providing high-quality care to patients presenting with minor injuries and minor medical conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Take comprehensive patient histories and conduct thorough examinations
  • Request and interpret appropriate investigations
  • Diagnose and formulate treatment plans
  • Safely discharge patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed minor injuries and illnesses
  • Autonomously take a full history and examination, request investigations, interpret results, diagnose, and plan treatment then discharge patients attending with undifferentiated and undiagnosed minor injuries and minor illnesses
  • Be flexible in shift/working patterns
  • Coordinate day-to-day unit operations and supervise junior and trainee Emergency Nurse Practitioners
  • Manage the Unit in the absence of the Lead ENP
  • Maintain high standards of nursing care and effective service delivery
Qualifications and Skills
  • Essential: Registered First Level Nurse / Paramedic; Current NMC / HCPC Registration; Emergency Nurse Practitioner qualification / Paramedic Practitioner qualification; ENB 998 or equivalent; Demonstrates ongoing professional development
  • Desirable: Non-medical Prescriber; Evidence of level 7 training related to urgent care; Foundation Management course; Line management experience; Experience of developing services
  • Skills: Clinical expertise in minor injury and minor ailment assessment and treatment; Leadership and ability to manage junior staff; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Decision making, prioritising and problem solving; IT literate; Able to assess patients requiring emergency treatment and provide emergency first aid
Experience
  • Essential: Worked in ED/UTC/MIU as an ENP/ECP autonomously; Experience in triage/streaming
Other Information
  • Be flexible in working patterns; capable of coping under stress; approachable; flexible approach to working; good organisational skills
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required; UK professional registration required
