Weare looking for a Bank Domestic Assistant to join our hardworking, busy andfriendly team. We have our owndedicated team of Domestic Assistants, however from time to time we requireadditional team members to ensure we continue to provide a quality servicewithin the Hospice.
Asa Bank Domestic Assistant, we will call you to offer occasional shifts, thismay be planned or at short notice, for a full shift or as ad hoc additionalhours, so flexibility and commitment is essential and will include evenings andweekends.
You willbe required to ensure thehospice and associated buildings are cleaned and maintained throughout,delivering a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
The idealcandidate will have previous experience in cleaning,preferably within a healthcare environment, andwith COSHH awareness and a valid driving licence. It is essential to havethe ability to understand and comply with Health & Safety policy andlegislation.
StElizabeth Hospice is an independent charity and hospice, which improves lifefor people in the East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney areas living with aprogressive or life-limiting illness.
Establishedin 1989, the hospice has built a reputation for delivering high-level care topatients and the community it serves. Through medicine and therapy, they easepain; give life purpose and make life liveable. Last year the charity supportedover 4,000 patients and their families.
Thehospices work is centred on the individual's needs and they provide specialistsupport wherever it is needed; whether that is in the home, another setting inthe community, in hospital or in the hospice itself. Support is provided topatients and their families via the Inpatient Unit, the Community CareUnit including outpatients clinics,home visits from the community nursing, medical or therapy team, the OneCall24/7 telephone helpline and bereavement support
In 2023, St Elizabeth Hospice merged with EastCoast Hospice to form a collaborative approach to developing achievable andsustainable specialist palliative care services for people living the GreatYarm & Waveney area.

Job Summary
To carry out cleaning duties throughout theHospice and associated buildings, ensuring our high standards of hygiene andcleanliness are maintained. Responsible for maintaining a high level ofinfection control throughout.

Maintainan awareness of the Hospices policies in relation to safeguarding
Key Responsibilities
Toclean and maintain to a high standard patient, staff, clinical, communal andservice areas, as per cleaning schedules and regimes. Following writtencleaning instructions.
Followinginfection control guidelines and leading the Hospice to provide exceptionalinfection control at all times.
Responsiblefor stocking and cleaning of cleaning trollies, replenishment of cleaning itemsand consumables.
Toput cleaning deliveries away and restock cleaning cupboards
Collect,wash & dry the laundry and return to the relevant department. Maintainingthe laundry room, ensuring it does not become cluttered and overfull.
Responsiblefor restocking of PPE requirements throughout the Hospice, maintain the PPEstore so it is a safe and tidy working space.
Toempty litter bins in scheduled areas, remove all domestic and clinical wastefrom building to rubbish compound daily, labelling and auditing as appropriate.
Monitorwaste disposal services, reporting any concerns to the Catering & DomesticTeam Leader.
Tocarry out in-depth cleaning as described in the cleaning schedule.
Toset up meeting rooms as and when required.
Ensure outsidewalkways remain clear and free of debris
Tackle heavy dutyjobs upon request.
To carry out minorrepairs
Responsiblefor security including unlocking and locking the whole hospice at the start ofduty and prior to going off duty and setting relevant intruder alarms ifrequired.
Toreport any faults to Maintenance Department, using the helpdesk or emergencycall out as appropriate.
Toreport near misses and incidents, using the SHE portal
Tokeep entrances clean, inside and out, as per cleaning schedule.
Tocheck and clean fridges weekly, as per cleaning schedule.
Undertaketraining as and when required.
Correctuse of cleaning chemicals following and maintain to COSHH regulations at alltimes
Carryingout porting duties as and when required, for example hospitals runs, bloodcollections and controlled drug collections.
Coordinatewith Senior Domestic Assistant / Catering & Domestic Team Leader regardingdaily cleaning requirements & prioritise daily workload.
Towork additional hours when necessary and to provide cover for annual leave andsickness
Whenworking in IPU to liaise with the shift coordinator regarding IPU requirements.
Towork in other areas of the Hospice as required.
Torecognise indications of staff stress and to facilitate staff support.
Toparticipate in the induction of all new staff as required.
Torecognise the value of volunteer contribution and play an active part in theirsupport & development where appropriate.
Educational Responsibilities
Toparticipate in the Hospice education programme.
Togive feedback from attended education programmes/study days.
Personal Responsibilities
Todevise with the Catering & Domestic Team Leader a personal development planin line with the Hospice objectives and personal needs.
Tomaintain and increase personal professional skills.
Organisational Responsibilities
Towork at all times within the policies of the Hospice and act within CareStandards at all times.
Touphold the hospice and individual teams values at all times.
Toensure effective use of resources.
Torespect at all times the confidentiality of information covering patients,staff and volunteers.
Toplay an active part in the development and maintenance of good relationshipswith all who have business with the Hospice.
Topromote the Hospice philosophy of care towards patients, relatives andvisitors.
Because of the special nature of the Hospiceand its work, the post holder may on occasion be asked to undertake otherduties to help maintain our high standard of care.
