Overview

The Materials Management Operative is a customer-facing role requiring a strong customer service work ethic and a proactive, positive approach. The post holder will work as part of the Materials Management team, operating the Trust’s goods inwards/outwards systems for delivering goods to Wards and Departments. The role includes assisting customers who come to Main Stores, checking goods received against delivery documents, and picking and packing supplies as per requisitions from Services within the Trust. The role requires physical fitness.

Responsibilities
  • Receipting and distribution of all goods ordered.
  • Review stock levels and manage stock inventory in line with clinical activity.
  • Scan, order and put away stock as per the schedule.
  • Work as part of the Materials Management team to ensure efficient goods handling and delivery to Wards and Departments.
  • Assist customers at Main Stores and ensure accuracy of deliveries against documentation.
  • Engage with hospital services including Procurement (Clinical Specialists, Contracts Team, Customer Services), Divisional teams, Ward review meetings, H&S (including Major Incident), Finance (e‑Financials Systems Team, Accounts Payable), Facilities and Estates, and other NHS bodies as applicable.
  • Maintain effective communication with external partners such as goods receiving staff, NHS Logistics teams, suppliers, couriers, public, and other NHS/Public Sector Organisations.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Physical fitness to perform the duties of the role.
  • Ability to work in a team and maintain a proactive, positive attitude in a customer-facing environment.
  • Flexibility to work Monday to Friday with 7.5 hour shifts; core hours 07:00–17:00.
