Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional (AHP) with a passion for education, wound care, and continence management? Do you enjoy empowering others through training and mentoring, and want to make a meaningful impact in mental health care?

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated and experienced practitioner to join our team as a Tissue Viability Practice Development Nurse. This is a key role focused on enhancing clinical skills and confidence in tissue viability and continence care across our mental health inpatient services.

You will lead the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based training and support, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and build a skilled, knowledgeable workforce.

What We’re Looking For
  • Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with current registration.
  • Experience in tissue viability, wound care, and/or continence management.
  • Strong background or interest in clinical education and staff development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Commitment to improving patient care through education, mentorship, and evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of specialist training programmes in tissue viability, wound care, and continence management.
  • Provide tailored, face-to-face education and clinical supervision to inpatient staff across all units.
  • Mentor staff through structured learning pathways, competency assessments, and reflective practice.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, service users, families, and carers to ensure care is person-centred and responsive.
  • Support the Trust’s strategic aim of workforce development through education and service improvement.
  • Contribute to policy development, clinical audits, and quality assurance initiatives related to tissue viability and continence care.
Training Delivery Focus
  • Design and implement training programmes that meet the needs of staff working in mental health inpatient settings.
  • Deliver interactive workshops, bedside teaching, and simulation-based learning.
  • Facilitate clinical supervision sessions and reflective learning groups.
  • Develop blended learning resources, including e-learning modules, in partnership with the Learning & Development team.
