Overview
The post holder will work within their allocated district supported by the School Nurse to assess the health needs of individual children and the school population as a whole. They will also support other districts within their team where need arises. They will proactively address factors affecting health to ensure that children and young people achieve the best possible outcomes and will work with vulnerable children and families to reduce the risks of social exclusion and health inequalities.
Responsibilities
- Assess health needs of individual children and the school population in collaboration with the School Nurse and multidisciplinary teams.
- Support other districts within the team as required.
- Proactively address factors affecting health to improve outcomes for children and young people.
- Work with vulnerable children and families to reduce social exclusion and health inequalities.
- Identify relevant health needs and ensure they are addressed in line with approved service pathways.
Qualifications and Experience
- Nursing qualification and current registration on the NMC register.
- Experience of working in the community or in a Paediatric post and knowledge of child development, health promotion, public health and safeguarding children would be an advantage but not essential.
- Commitment to team working and excellent interpersonal skills.
