Job summary

A regional mental health organization is seeking full-time Assistant Psychologists for a fixed-term position. Responsibilities include 1:1 and group clinical work, participation in service development, and engaging with clients with severe mental health issues. Successful candidates will receive clinical supervision and contribute to auditing processes. Job description
Overview

We are recruiting 2 x Assistant Psychologist (Band 4), full-time (37.5 hours), on fixed-term contracts for 18 months within the Integrated Community Care and Recovery (ICCR) Services. Posts are based at Orsborn House Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) in Handsworth and Northcroft CMHTs, Erdington. The posts are part of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and involve working with 1:1 client work, group work, MDT collaboration, and research and audit within a diverse inner-city population. The post holder will be part of supportive psychology teams and will have 1:1 clinical supervision from a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. There may be periodic travel to other Trust bases. The role offers opportunities to learn how the psychology services work within the wider MDT and to contribute to service development within the hub and across the Trust.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 clinical work and participate in group work within ICCR services.
  • Learn how the psychology services operate as part of the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team and contribute to service development within the hub and across the Trust.
  • Receive 1:1 clinical supervision from a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
  • Participate in relevant auditing and evaluation of clinical services and contribute to data collection (e.g., CORE).
  • Engage in clinical assessment, formulation and intervention development with people who have severe and enduring mental health problems; work with presentations including depression, anxiety, PTSD/trauma, personality disorder, psychosis, and dual diagnoses as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Psychology and Psychological Services colleagues across geographical areas and integrated teams.
  • Possibly travel to other Trust bases as required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Psychology graduate with relevant clinical experience and a strong interest in working with people who have severe and enduring mental health problems.
  • Experience of working in teams is desirable; post-graduate training in psychological interventions is desirable.
  • Given dispersed work locations, it is desirable for applicants to be car drivers.
Other Information

Successful applicants will gain experience in multilevel service provision and develop skills in clinical assessment, formulation and intervention, and involvement in relevant auditing and evaluation of clinical services.
