Overview

A Vacancy at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven therapy assistant to join our Medical Specialties & Oncology Therapy team. The team provides therapy to inpatients with a variety of medical conditions. You will be working under the guidance of physiotherapists and occupational therapists, assisting patients with rehabilitation and supporting their safe discharge from the hospital. You will be required to participate in a 7-day service on a rota basis.

Responsibilities
  • Gather information on patient history
  • Order equipment as needed
  • Follow up with exercise plans already established by therapists
  • Work as an essential member of the multidisciplinary team
  • Provide skilled routine and non-routine clinical and technical support to the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams and associated clerical staff
  • Primary assessment of patient
  • Referral for treatment
  • Clinical discharge of patient
  • Set the primary clinical treatment plan and monitor progression
  • Oversee the clinical quality and ensure the appropriateness of treatments
Qualifications
  • State registered therapist (e.g., physiotherapist or occupational therapist)
  • Healthcare experience with an interest in therapy team work
  • Willingness to develop skills and knowledge in assessment and treatment across medical specialties
  • Access to in-service training, regular supervision and support
