AV Technician
We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven AV Technician to support the daily operations of our corporate audio‑visual infrastructure. This role focuses on setup, operation, and troubleshooting of AV and video conferencing systems in office spaces, including meeting rooms, conference centers, and event areas. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong communication and customer service skills to deliver seamless, high‑quality AV experiences for staff, executives, and clients.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and support AV systems for meetings, presentations, and internal or external events in conference rooms, boardrooms, and multi‑purpose spaces.
- Provide on‑demand, white‑glove service support for presentations, meetings, events, and broadcasts, including pre‑meeting testing and live troubleshooting.
- Ensure AV rooms and equipment are properly maintained, tested daily, and ready for scheduled meetings.
- Support hybrid and in‑person meetings, ensuring seamless integration of audio, video, and content sharing.
- Assist with multimedia broadcasting support.
- Respond promptly to AV service requests and resolve technical issues with minimal disruption to users.
- Aid in configuring and troubleshooting AV hardware: displays, microphones, speakers, video bars, PTZ cameras, DSPs, and control systems (e.g., Crestron, Polycom, Extron).
- Provide Tier 1‑2 support for AV issues and elevate complex problems to senior team members or vendors.
- Support AV project rollouts in coordination with the AV Engineer, IT, Facilities, and third‑party vendors.
- Collaborate with IT, Facilities, and event teams to plan and deliver AV support for company events, town halls, and client‑facing presentations.
- Perform proactive maintenance and minor AV system repairs.
- Assist in AV system upgrades and installations under the guidance of senior AV staff or external vendors.
- Maintain documentation for AV systems, including equipment lists, floor plans, and support guides.
- Train and assist end users on the proper use of AV systems and conferencing tools.
- Act as a white‑glove point of contact for all AV‑related inquiries, providing high‑level support to staff across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
- 1‑3 years of experience in a corporate AV support or technician role.
- Strong working knowledge of AV hardware and systems: displays, projectors, microphones, cameras, DSPs, switchers, and control panels (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Polycom, Q‑SYS).
- Hands‑on experience supporting video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
- Ability to troubleshoot live AV issues calmly and efficiently under time‑sensitive conditions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer‑service mindset.
- Capacity to work independently or as part of a team in a fast‑paced, professional environment.
- Familiarity with AV cabling, signal flow, and connectivity standards (HDMI, USB‑C, Cat6, etc.).
- Flexibility to support meetings or events outside regular business hours as needed.
- May involve occasional travel to office locations or off‑site events.
- Preferred: Experience with room monitoring and remote management platforms (e.g., Zoom Admin Portal, Crestron XiO Cloud, Poly Lens).
- Preferred: Understanding of basic networking concepts as they relate to AV (IP addressing, VLANs, PoE devices).
- Preferred: AVIXA CTS certification or working toward certification.
Salary
£26,000 to £28,000 (dependent on experience)
