Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop, test and deploy safety-critical flight software for UAS/UAV platforms at our Bedford facility. You will use MATLAB/Simulink to craft control laws, verify with simulations and conduct real-world testing near the office.

The role requires close collaboration within a multidisciplinary team and active contribution to process improvements. You will work on embedded, real-time systems and pursue National Security Vetting clearance,

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience designing and commissioning control systems.
• Existing SC Clearance.
• Desirable: Guidance, navigation and control for fixed/rotary wing.
• Knowledge of sensing systems and small UAS.
• Experience with state-of-the-art for embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical flight control software.
• Contribute to requirements definition and develop control laws.
• Verify and validate via bespoke simulations and real-world flight testing.
• Deploy software to target hardware and document results for reports/customers.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and improve processes.
