Job summary

Saab UK in Bedfordshire is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop, test and deploy safety-critical software for UAS flight control systems. You will work with MATLAB/Simulink to create novel control laws and data manipulation algorithms, verify with bespoke simulations, and perform real-world flight tests at a nearby facility.

Clear SSVC/SC vetting is required, and you will help improve standard operating processes.

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on design and commissioning of control systems.
• Knowledge of safety-critical software and DO-178/ED-20x standards.
• Clearance: National Security Vetting to SC level or ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical flight control software.
• Contribute to requirements definition and verify with bespoke simulations.
• Deploy software to target hardware and conduct real-world flight tests.
• Present testing findings in reports or customer-facing presentations.
• Contribute to SOPs, process improvements and team collaboration.
