Job Title: Senior Commissioning Engineer

Role Overview

proAV are a leading global audio visual integrator, providing AV and event services across multiple client partnerships globally.

Our immediate requirement is for an experienced Senior Commissioner to be a key part of our Egham team, representing proAV, taking full responsibility for undertaking a lead role on projects and overseeing the onsite commissioning team members that are deployed with them on projects. A high level of client, consultant and contractor communication and experience is expected and must be demonstrated at all times, managing situations and challenges in a clam, methodical and relationship enhancing manor is key.

This role involves supervising and developing the commissioning team, overseeing team distribution on projects where they lead a team. Overarching collaboration with the Project Delivery teams and project support departments, to deliver successful projects.

Senior Commissioners will contribute to documentation development and inform strategic improvements based on continuous analysis of project deliverables and outcomes reporting and offering this back to the Commissioning Manager(s).

Senior Commissioners are responsible for the closeout of projects as allocated: They will work in cohesion with the project closeout teams, effectively communicating and developing direction for onsite operations.

Collaboration with all project departments is key from pre-sales through to onsite deployment teams with mind to feedback information gained from deployment teams back into presale.

Creating and maintaining a direct dialogue and relationship with Service and Support teams, to assist, educate and inform for a seamless transition to support.

Key Responsibilities
Development
  • Review the assigned team's skills and abilities, strengths and assign to project tasks that suit.
  • Work with the Commissioning Manager(s), other Senior team members and project teams to deploy project reporting and plans for the Commissioning team.
  • Identify areas of required development and ensure this is reported back to Commissioning Managers, whilst also encouraging a proactive approach to self-development.
  • Undertake administrative tasks and processes as agreed for project closeout delivery.
Project Delivery
  • Effectively Lead assigned resource ensuring projects have suitable skillsets distributed and are completing tasks to expected levels.
  • Dynamically react to meet project requirements, mitigating risk and potential for escalation. Use channels of escalation, speak to Project Managers and team members before escalation.
  • Identify if/ when any escalation to the Senior Management is appropriate.
  • Support the Commissioning Engineers on delivering projects, attending sites and ensuring the correct deployment processes are followed.
  • Identify innovative strategies for project delivery optimization.
  • Review and validate system schemes regarding AV requirements and architecture.
  • Liaise with project departments, consultants, clients, and contractors to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Assess both the suitability of processes and performance of proAV departments and internal staff, as well as sub-contractors or 3rd party and manufacturer/ partner resources - ensuring these are meeting the project deliverables and proAV professional standards.
Technical skills
  • System design, functionality, industry standards and signal flow advanced enough to efficiently identify schematic challenges and the ability provide advice on correcting these.
  • Commissioning personnel time and labour management and the capability to inform accurate estimation of these factors.
  • Strong understanding and implementation of Audio-Visual processes and standards.
  • Audio-Visual commissioning process and standards. This should include major works experience from small huddle rooms to large event spaces demonstrating configuration of distribution systems and protocols, video processors, audio DSP, broadcast, conferencing and control systems.
  • Working with industry consultants and general contractors to achieve client handover.
  • Network deployment testing and verification of software-based conferencing systems like MS Teams & Zoom. A working understanding of relevant network protocols and standards - sufficient to coordinate actions required between proAV resources and 3rd party/ client/ manufacturer discussions surrounding AVoIP and Network Deployment.

  • Represent the company with the necessary level of professional conduct and presentation.
  • Communicate in an effective manner - articulate and effective verbal and written communication.
  • Identify continual professional development training requirements, undertaking manufacturer and industry body training, along with any other skills/ knowledge development required to ensure skills remain current and in line with job role - leading by example.
  • Continuous improvement and innovation of design, technology and usage.
  • The ability to work under pressure, whilst maintaining a professional and measured response to job-role scenarios.
  • Highly proficient and strong depth of knowledge across numerous AV disciplines and technologies to include design, configuration & deployment and support.
