Job summary

Aspire People are currently recruiting an experienced Attendance Officer to join a welcoming secondary school in Bury, starting ASAP. This temporary role offers a long-term prospect with potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You will monitor pupil attendance and punctuality, follow up absences, contact parents, maintain records and work with pastoral teams to reduce persistent absence while upholding safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience as Attendance Officer in an educational setting.
• Experience in a secondary school preferred.
• Strong safeguarding understanding.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and track pupil attendance and punctuality.
• Follow up on unexplained and persistent absences.
• Contact parents/carers regarding attendance concerns.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure information is updated promptly.
• Work closely with pastoral staff and senior leaders to identify and address attendance issues.
• Support the school in improving overall attendance and reducing persistent absence.
• Assist with attendance-related meetings, interventions and reporting.
• Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.
