Job summary

Education First is seeking an organised Attendance Officer to join a secondary school in Sutton on a full-time maternity cover basis. The role focuses on monitoring pupil attendance and liaising with parents, carers and staff to improve attendance levels.

You will maintain records, identify attendance patterns and support safeguarding alongside pastoral teams, with a professional, proactive approach and strict confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school or education setting.
• Experience in attendance, administration or pastoral support.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily pupil attendance and absence.
• Follow up on unexplained and persistent absences.
• Contact parents and carers regarding attendance concerns.
• Maintain accurate attendance records.
• Identify patterns and trends in pupil attendance.
• Work with pastoral and safeguarding teams.
• Support attendance improvement strategies.
• Prepare attendance information and reports.
• Communicate with pupils regarding attendance.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
• Follow school attendance, safeguarding and child protection procedures.
