Attendance Officer – Secondary School

Are you an experienced Attendance Officer looking for your next opportunity within a secondary school?

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join a welcoming high school in Kirkham (PR4). This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible, making it an excellent opportunity for someone with previous attendance experience who can confidently step into the role and make an immediate impact.

The Role

As an Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in monitoring and improving pupil attendance across the school. Responsibilities may include:

  • Monitoring and recording daily pupil attendance and absence
  • Following up unexplained or persistent absences with parents and carers
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records using school systems
  • Identifying attendance concerns and patterns at an early stage
  • Working closely with the school's pastoral and safeguarding teams
  • Supporting strategies and interventions designed to improve attendance
  • Communicating professionally with pupils, parents, carers and external agencies
  • Producing attendance reports and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Supporting pupils and families to overcome barriers affecting regular school attendance
The Successful Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience working in an Attendance Officer or similar school-based attendance role
  • Has a good understanding of attendance procedures within a secondary school setting
  • Is confident dealing with pupils, parents and carers
  • Has excellent organisation and administrative skills
  • Can handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Is confident using IT and school management systems
  • Can build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Is proactive, resilient and able to work effectively as part of a busy school team

Relevant attendance experience is essential for this position.
