Job Title: Associate Economist

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: London

Working style: Hybrid 50% home / office based

Royal London Asset Management (RLAM) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Economist to join the multi asset team.

Core to this role is conducting business cycle and central bank analysis as well as providing commentary on economic trends and risks across global economies. Under the guidance of the Senior Economist you will analyse economic developments develop econometric models and proprietary macroeconomic indicators. The role also requires supporting the team with broader research into capital markets and the longer‑term economic outlook.

You will also contribute to the multi‑asset teams tactical and strategic asset allocation processes and support other teams with economic research and forecasts that you have helped to formulate.

About the role
  • Provide commentary on economic developments and outlook at internal and external meetings
  • Monitor key economic indicators and provide timely updates on relevant trends and risks
  • Produce written economic updates and contribute to research reports for internal and external publication
  • Support the maintenance and development of econometric models and proprietary macroeconomic indicators
  • Undertake long‑term economic research to inform the development and refinement of capital market assumptions as part of the strategic asset allocation process
  • Collaborate with operations and technology teams to leverage analytical tools and drive efficiencies
About you

  • Strong planning, coordination and organisation skills
  • Confident and articulate with the ability to thrive under pressure
  • Relationship and stakeholder management skills gaining an understanding of other functions
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines across multiple workstreams
  • Works with other teams in an open and collaborative way
  • Masters degree in Economics, Economics & Finance or Finance (if accompanied by an economics undergraduate qualification)
  • Previous experience of working in the finance industry or in an economics role (e.g. public sector) preferably 1‑3 years
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficiency in econometric software (e.g. Eviews) and Microsoft applications
  • Achievement of CFA charter certification or other relevant qualifications (desirable)
