Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking an Associate Director to lead the urban drainage modelling capability and guide the technical delivery across UK water projects, including engagements with Severn Trent, Scottish Water Horizons, Welsh Water, and Southern Water. You will direct a high-performing team and shape innovative solutions for resilient water infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline with Chartered status or active progress toward chartership with ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM.
• Experience in wastewater hydraulic modelling using InfoWorks ICM and ability to verify outputs before issue.
• Knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Code of Practice for Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage, and relevant British Standards.
• Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of urban drainage modelling capability and keep the team ahead on methods, tools, and standards.
• Support day-to-day management of the technical delivery team.
• Provide authoritative input on urban drainage projects and collaborate with wastewater teams to improve delivery.
• Apply professional judgement to solve complex engineering challenges and drive innovation.
• Build trusted client relationships and facilitate project meetings with stakeholders.
• Contribute to proposals, growth opportunities, and business development.
• Represent WSP in industry forums and conferences and share knowledge within the team.
• Support development of the wider water team.
