Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Director to lead and shape our urban drainage modelling capability within the water environment. You will guide teams, influence project delivery for clients such as Severn Trent and Scottish Water Horizons, and help drive growth across the UK.

You will contribute technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and industry representation while supporting development and Chartership within a growing, award-winning water team.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil or environmental engineering; chartered or on track with ICE/IEI/IoW/CIWEM.
• Experience with wastewater hydraulic modelling and ability to check outputs prior to issue.
• Knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Code of Practice for Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems and relevant British Standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of urban drainage modelling capability and keep the team ahead of evolving methods, tools, and standards.
• Support the day-to-day management of the technical delivery team.
• Provide authoritative input on urban drainage projects, working with the wastewater team to deliver innovative, efficient results.
• Apply independent professional judgement to solve complex engineering challenges and drive innovation.
• Build strong, trusted client relationships and facilitate internal and external project meetings.
• Contribute to business development, proposals, and strategic growth opportunities.
• Represent WSP in industry forums and conferences.
• Share knowledge widely, contributing to the development of the wider water team.
