Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Director to lead and shape our urban drainage modelling capability within the water team. You will guide teams, strengthen technical capability, and influence project delivery for clients such as Severn Trent and Scottish Water Horizons.

You will mentor colleagues, contribute to business development, and represent WSP in industry forums, while advancing your Chartered status and industry knowledge.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree and chartered, or significantly progressed on your journey in pursuing qualification with ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM.
• Able to demonstrate clear and successful experience of wastewater hydraulic modelling (InfoWorks ICM) and an ability to check the technical outputs of others prior to issue.
• A good working knowledge of Water Industry Specifications, Code of Practice for the Hydraulic Modelling of Urban Drainage Systems and relevant British Standards.
• Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of urban drainage modelling capability and stay ahead of evolving methods, tools, and standards.
• Support the team lead with day-to-day management of the technical delivery team.
• Provide authoritative technical input on urban drainage projects and support innovative project delivery.
• Apply independent professional judgement to solve complex engineering challenges and drive innovation.
• Build strong client relationships and facilitate project meetings.
• Contribute to proposals, business development, and strategic growth.
• Represent WSP in industry forums and conferences.
• Share knowledge to develop the wider water team.
