Associate Director, Urban Drainage & Wastewater Modelling

Job summary

WSP is seeking an Associate Director with strong experience in urban drainage and wastewater modelling to lead teams, guide project delivery and shape technical solutions for local and national projects.

You will work with engineers and hydraulic modellers across the UK, line manage and mentor, and help grow our capability in urban drainage modelling while building trusted client relationships with water utilities.

Qualifications

• A relevant engineering degree and chartership or clear progress toward it (ICE, IEI, IoW or CIWEM).
• Strong experience in wastewater and urban drainage modelling using InfoWorks ICM.
• Ability to review, assure and guide the technical work of others.
• Good understanding of Water Industry Specifications, the Code of Practice for Hydraulic Modelling and relevant British Standards.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage teams delivering urban drainage and wastewater modelling projects.
• Support the team lead with project delivery, resource planning and review of technical outputs.
• Develop modelling capability using InfoWorks ICM and guide junior colleagues in best practice.
• Provide technical input on drainage assessments and influence efficient delivery approaches.
• Apply independent engineering judgement to solve complex problems and develop practical solutions.
• Lead and support proposal development to help grow workstreams and client accounts.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships at all levels.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and capability development across the wider water team.
• Represent WSP at industry forums and relevant conferences.
