Job summary

A leading retail company is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Horley, UK, to motivate staff and ensure exceptional shopping experiences. You will support the Store Manager by recruiting and coaching a talented team, while also managing daily operations. Ideal candidates will have prior retail or hospitality experience and strong people management skills. This is a full-time position with early shifts starting at 3 AM and late shifts until 10 PM. A fixed-term contract for 12 months is offered.

Overview

As Assistant Store Manager you motivate your team and deliver a meaningful shopping experience. You support the Store Manager, recruit and coach a diverse talent pool, and drive operational excellence in all areas.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a role model and true ambassador for Rituals.
  • Support the Store Manager in creating a culture of trust, positive feedback and constructive communication.
  • Recruit, hire, retain and develop a high‑engaged store team.
  • Coach team members to reach full potential and achieve store performance goals.
  • Serve as the Store Manager’s right hand by handling day‑to‑day business activities.
Qualifications
  • High energy, low ego, a sense of humor and inspiring performance orientation.
  • Prior relevant experience as an Assistant Store Manager or equivalent in retail or hospitality.
  • People management skills: communication, motivation, coaching, connection and inspiration.
  • Experience sharing knowledge to drive behavioural change and develop others.
  • Decision making and problem‑solving skills.
  • 5‑year checkable work history.
  • Clean criminal record check (CRB/DBS).
Availability

Must be available for early shifts starting at 3 AM on three days per week and late shifts ending at 10 PM on two days per week.
