Job Purpose

The Assistant Site Manager will support the Site Manager in overseeing the daily operations of refurbishment projects, ensuring that work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This role involves coordinating general construction activities, fitting kitchens and bathrooms, and maintaining communication with various stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination:
    • Assist the Site Manager in the planning and execution of refurbishment schemes.
    • Monitor progress of ongoing projects against set timelines and budgets.
    • Coordinate logistics of materials and equipment delivery.
  • Construction Management:
    • Oversee day‑to‑day construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
    • Provide guidance and support to site operatives and subcontractors.
    • Assist in setting out the site and ensuring proper organisation.
  • Kitchen and Bathroom Fitting:
    • Supervise and assist in the installation of kitchen and bathroom fittings.
    • Ensure adherence to specifications and high‑quality workmanship in all installations.
    • Conduct inspections of completed work, resolving any issues that arise.
  • Health and Safety:
    • Promote a culture of health and safety on site and ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols.
    • Conduct regular site safety audits and toolbox talks.
    • Report and document any health and safety incidents or near misses.
  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Serve as a key point of contact between site operatives, the Site Manager, and external stakeholders.
    • Participate in site meetings and report on project progress, challenges, and achievements.
    • Assist with the preparation of documentation, including work schedules and progress reports.
  • Client Relations:
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations managed.
    • Address any concerns or queries from clients in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: A degree or relevant qualification in construction management, civil engineering, or related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a construction environment, especially in refurbishment and residential projects fitting kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building regulations.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well in a team and manage conflicts effectively.
  • IT Skills: Proficient in using construction management software and MS Office Suite.
Working Conditions
  • The role requires working on‑site in Hull.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • This position may involve manual lifting and other physically demanding tasks.
