Assistant Service Manager Job Overview
- Assist the Service Manager with daily operations of the department.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
- Support management of all aspects of the service team and workshop activities.
- Partner with the Service Manager to drive revenue growth and profitability through effective upselling and customer retention strategies.
- Help manage Work in Progress to ensure it remains at a sustainable level, in accordance with company policy, while optimizing all callouts.
- Continuously monitor and improve aftersales processes by identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing operational enhancements.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and assist in taking corrective actions when necessary to improve departmental performance.
- Support the development and execution of strategies aimed at achieving departmental goals and objectives.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the availability of parts and the efficient use of technicians' time.
- Assist with compliance to health and safety regulations and standards.
- Ensure that all Service department administrative procedures and processes are properly followed.
- Provide mentorship and support to technicians, focusing on the development of apprentices and trainees.

- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- A solid understanding of machinery and seasonal demands faced by customers and the business.
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and maintain high standards.
- Previous experience in a similar managerial role within the industry or a related field, or a seasoned engineer ready to transition into management.
Salary & Benefits
- Annual salary of £42k - £48k, depending on experience.
- Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with some Saturdays on a rota basis.
